TEACH.
TEACH.
WHAT IS OUR GOAL?
Our goal is to present every man mature by proclaiming, admonishing, and teaching everyone about Jesus Christ.
We achieve this by living out the Great Commission:
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
-Matthew 28:19-20
TEACHING IN THE KINGDOM
In the story of the lost son in Luke 15, the older son in the story was just as far away in his heart from his father as the younger son was far away in physical presence from the father. The older son needed to be taught who he was in the family. Like this story about the Kingdom of God, we must teach those attend church become awakened to who they are in Christ. Their identity lies within Him.
We exist to TEACH people about the life-changing good news of Jesus Christ
We desire to TEACH those who call Jesus Lord that they are known as sons and daughters of God.
We want TEACH people the whole counsel of God through biblical teachings.
We long to TEACH our regular attenders how to study the word of God and apply its timeless truths to their everyday lives.
We want to TEACH people to discern right from wrong, and God's eternal truth from lies.
TEACH WHO?
We want to TEACH everyone to become disciples or followers of Christ; but mainly, we are teaching "the older sons and daughters of God" who already attend church to become fully devoted followers of Jesus. We yearn for people to grow into who God has made them to be. We are called to grow in our knowledge and love of Christ, and to find our identities in Him by developing a strong foundation within the Word of God. We desire to TEACH to people to read and know the Bible, and to follow Christ in order to be equipped for good works (2 Timothy 3:14-17).
TEACH TO FOLLOW JESUS
We know that not everyone who attends church follows Jesus. We desire to see this reality changed. We long for all people who regularly attend Valley to be taught to become followers of Christ --giving Him full lordship of their lives.
WHY DOES THIS MATTER?
DO CHRISTIANS IN AMERICA READ THE BIBLE?
Most people who would classify themselves as Christians in America claim to read the Bible, but do they really read it? Research conducted in 2017 by Lifeway Research found data that would suggest the majority of Christians in America do NOT read much of the Bible. However, this is the same Bible they profess to believe and model their lives after. Only eleven percent of Christians in America have read the Bible in its entirety. Ten percent of all Christians in America have not read the Bible at all.
LET'S CHANGE THE STATISTICS
We need to develop creative strategies and tools to help cultivate a desire to know the word of God, so we may follow the Word of God, who is Jesus. We can TEACH people to read and understand the Bible. We can TEACH followers of Christ to not only know the word, but to LIVE IT out in their everyday lives.
A MESSAGE FROM PASTOR TRAVIS
LEAD PASTOR: TRAVIS OSBORNE
"Welcome to VCFamily! We would love to have you join us in person or online. We are simply a gathering of real people seeking to know God more and love one another deeply. If we can be of any help, please feel free to contact us."
WHAT WE BELIEVE
We believe that Jesus Christ is God incarnate, fully God and fully man, that He was conceived and born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, and sacrificed Himself to be punished in substitution for sinners. By the blood of His cross and His resurrection from the dead, He obtained for us eternal redemption, the forgiveness of sins, and life everlasting. He was raised bodily and ascended to the right hand of the Father. He will return to the earth personally and visibly to consummate His kingdom.
