Who we are, where we come from, and where we're headed as a church family
It's our hope that this page answers three basic questions. We want to make sure that you understand the purpose of our church, who we are, and where we are headed in this next season. We love God, we love people, and we would love for you to join us on the mission God has uniquely tasked us with here in Redding, CA.
WHO WE ARE
Here's the deal, Valley Christian Family cares about one thing more than anything else, Jesus Christ. Valley Christian Family is a family of individuals that have found hope in Jesus, and simply want as many people as possible to experience that exact same freedom.
WHERE WE COME FROM
Community and fellowship have become important qualities of our identity. Our many ministries strive for inclusion and welcome all who come through our doors. We at Valley strive to be an encouraging place to use gifts and talents within the family and as we reach out to our community of Redding, and the world. We choose to be a family that lives by FAITH, lives with HOPE, and lives to LOVE.
From children’s ministries to our elder generation, each fills an important role in the life of our church family. If you are searching for a church home, we would be honored to meet you and invite you to join our family.

What's the bottom line? More than ever, Valley Christian Family is committed to fostering a family built around FAITH, HOPE, & LOVE, by putting hope and trust in Jesus for our future. TRAVIS OSBORNE
LEAD PASTOR
Travis is our newest addition to the team.
He has been in pastoral ministry for over 25 years serving as a youth pastor, college pastor, and teaching pastor. He graduated with a Master of Divinity from A.W. Tozer Theological Seminary and is licensed and ordained with The Christian and Missionary Alliance. He has served as the lead Student & Family Pastor at Pathway Church of Redding since 2016 until coming onto staff here at VC Family. Prior to that he was the Director of Spiritual Formation at Simpson University for 7 years and the High School Pastor at The Grove Community Church in Riverside, CA for 12 years.
Some of his favorite hobbies are volleyball, camping , commuting around town on his 1982 Schwinn Bicycle, dates with his wife, and paddle boarding at Whiskeytown. Travis married his wife Annette 24 years ago and they have three beautiful children Payton, Jonah and Davey. They have lived in Shasta County for 12 years and love living in Palo Cedro. Annette works as a substitute teacher in Shasta County.
Their daughter, Payton, is studying neuroscience and is running for the cross country & track team in her first year at the University of Nevada in Reno.
Jonah is about to graduate from Redding Christian School and plans to play football and study law enforcement at Crown College in Minnesota this fall.
Davey is a sophomore at Redding Christian and looks forward to returning to the soccer team when their season opens again.
TAYLOR SPIELMAN
YOUTH PASTOR
Taylor joined our team in 2021 to serve as our Youth Pastor. He has a background in camp and youth ministry and is passionate about equipping and walking alongside the next generation. Taylor moved from Grand Junction, Colorado, but met his wife Brittney in Santa Cruz, California. He graduated from Western Seminary in 2019 with a Master of Biblical and Theological Studies. He has served in life development ministries spanning from pre-school up through young-adult ages.
Taylor is in his element when he is in the water and particularly when a surfboard is involved. He enjoys all sorts of explorations and adventures, sports, and games, but also enjoys quietly plugging along on a jigsaw puzzle. Taylor, his wife, and their two children are excited to get to know you and your family and as we all navigate this life together in pursuit of knowing and trusting in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
MATT CARTER
WORSHIP PASTOR
Matt joined our team in 2018 to serve as our Worship Pastor. He has a passion for serving others and seeing them grow into who God has made them to be. Matt came to us from a church located in Kokomo, IN. He feels that God has called him and his family to this minstry and he is excited to be a part of our family. Matt and his wife, Candice, have been married for 17 years, and have five amazing children 6 years old to 13 years old.
Some of his favorite hobbies are hiking, snowboarding, going to the beach, date nights with his wife, having fun with his kids, and driving his dad's '56 Chevy 3100 pickup. He and his wife, Candice, love co-laboring together.
